A through-line in our oldest and most enduring tales, metamorphosis is a process both natural and supernatural, literal and symbolic, terrifying and playful.  My work places metamorphosis - in all of its iterations - at its center.  Through visual storytelling, I explore changes wrought on the body by illness, pain, grief, and joy; by our surroundings natural, social and cultural.  I combine word and image to play within and push against the metamorphosis of mythology and fairy tales.  Yielding to the logic of these stories means practicing a deep humility in our relationship with the natural world: we are one step away from being a tree or a beast or a body of water, all the same matter forever recycling and manifesting in different forms.  On the page, my process welcomes the unexpected transformations that occur when materials interact.  This means that my work subtly changes shape over time, perpetually in a state of becoming.
